Remeber that the map gets generated a few squares into the black area. If you discover new map areas, do a console kill again.

That should kill all the biters in the generated part of the map, so you're free to build. Either new map or console remove spread+kill. Use your OG base as a bootstrap/mall to provide copious modules, assemblers, and beacons.Īlso, I'd suggest you turn off biters for megabasing. Once the new pipe logic comes out, that may change, but it still probably won't be as UPS efficient as solar, as solar panels and accumulators are all treated as one entity, scaled to the number you actually have. I like nuclear, but it's too UPS intensive for megabases. See how you do melting your CPU with smaller trains, then optimize from there. If you're pushing the UPS to the point of CPU melting, then you will need to use mongo trains, which will require creative stations. If you go super mongo trains, then in some cases it might be prudent to have, for example, a dedicated iron plate train line which feeds into a redistribution point of sorts, where the big train is split into smaller trains that don't crash the network.Īs far as "complicated" megabase stations, as long as you don't go too crazy with train size, you won't need them. Building bigger stations and bigger trains is technically more efficient, but I find it's easiest to limit myself to 2-6 with my six lane system. Basically, I have a copper smelter that does nothing but feed two adjacent six belt green circuit stations. My biggest base I have eight iron smelters and seven copper smelter stations, each processing six blue belts of plates onto 2-6 trains, and distributed throughout the base. Ideally, some circuit magic can be used to ensure that a train never takes the "long way around", but practically it is not easy, and must be done for every station.ĭon't be afraid to double up on stations. They can relieve train congestion quite well, but if made carelessly, can just increase average train travel time.
I think enclosed squares work a lot better. The inner lanes are reserved for my personal shuttles, construction trains, and the occasional "critical" train, like my laser/repair pack suppliers. They get middle lane because the outside lane trains get priority for delivering goods. The middle lanes carry empty trains back to their filling stations. Outside lane because they have to deal with the least traffic that way.
